DIY Stress Relief Activities

Life can be stressful. Stress can have harmful effects on our bodies and minds. It is important to take time to reduce stress levels to keep ourselves healthy. Join us for an evening of relaxing activites. Listen to soothing music and sip tea while making your own stress-relief projects, including:

  • Glitter jar
  • Mini Zen garden
  • Mermaid stress ball

Please note: We will be using an essential oil diffuser in this class.

Yoga Basics is a gentle, safe, and fun way to start your journey toward good health and wellbeing. You do not need any yoga experience to take part in this class. The simple postures can benefit beginners as well as anyone who wishes to restart their yoga practice. Mary will show you how yoga really can work for everyone!

Mindful Eating: The Am I Hungry? Program

Now that the holidays are over, transform the way you think about food. Join us for this interactive and engaging 8-week mindful eating program. You will learn how to tune into your natural instincts to manage your eating in a mindful, healthy way – without restrictive diets or obsessing over every bite. During the program you will learn to:

  • Use hunger and satiety to guide your eating
  • Eat the foods you love without overeating or feeling guilty
  • Balance eating for nourishment with eating for enjoyment
  • Resolve mindless and emotional eating

Some reading is required. The workbook and book, Eat What You Love and Love What You Eat are included in price of the class.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Booster Class

This class is designed to provide ongoing support for anyone who has participated in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program or practiced Mindfulness in other ways but wants to learn more or refresh their practice. Using Tara Brach’s book, “True Refuge”, each of the 5 weeks will provide discussion, tools and opportunities for deepening your meditation practice and reducing stress.

Please note: Participants are responsible for providing their own copy of the book.

Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR has been scientifically proven to enhance pain management and reduce pain levels, improve focus, resilience and the capacity to recover more quickly from challenging life events. Taught by a certified MBSR teacher, instruction involves mindful meditation practices, discussion, gentle stretching and yoga (appropriate for all fitness levels).
