DIY Stress Relief Activities

Life can be stressful.

Stress can have harmful effects on our bodies and minds. It is important to take time to reduce stress levels to keep ourselves healthy.

Join us for an evening of relaxing activities. Listen to soothing music and sip tea while making your own stress-relief projects, including:

  • Glitter jar
  • Mini Zen garden
  • Mermaid stress ball

Please note: We will be using an essential oil diffuser in this class.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction AM

The 9-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program is designed to help you cope more effectively with both long and short term stressors.

Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR has been scientifically proven to enhance the ability to manage and reduce pain levels, improve focus, resilience and the capacity to recover more quickly from challenging life events.

Taught by approved and certified teacher of MBSR, instruction involves mindful meditation practices, discussion, gentle stretching and yoga (appropriate for all ability levels).

In addition to the 8 Wednesday classes, an all-day retreat takes place Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9am to 3pm 

For those who registered after Sept. 6, participation is required  at the Intro/Orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 6:00-7:30pm.

This class is designed to provide ongoing support for anyone who has participated in the MBSR program.

Using Tara Brach’s book, True Refuge, each of the 5 weeks will provide discussion, tools and opportunities for deepening your meditation practice and reducing stress.

Please note: Participants are responsible for providing their own copy of the book.

Self-Transformation with EFT/Tapping

Join us for an introductory class to learn about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or “Tapping.”

EFT is a mind-body stress reduction technique that uses the same energy meridians as acupuncture, without the needles. This technique may reduce stress related to physical pain and emotional ailments.

Karen will share the basics of tapping, how it can be used as a complementary therapy to western medicine and how it has changed her life.

You’ll learn how to use this simple and painless technique on yourself!

Teaching Mindfulness to Children

Children can benefit from practicing mindfulness just as much as adults can!

Join us as we learn how a consistent mindfulness practice can help children build emotional regulation, focus and empathy. This class will be helpful for parents, caregivers and teachers.
