Kick-Start Your Healthy Habits

This class will provide you with the latest evidence-based research about how our choices and lifestyle habits affect the brain, body inflammation and overall functioning.  Two health coaches with clinical social work and nursing backgrounds will guide you in developing a beginning wellness plan with resources to support you in in making the changes that you choose to improve your health. Some topics and experiences that we will cover:  

  • Identify strengths, challenges and resources to develop and follow through with a personal wellness plan   
  • Learn about community resources that can support your wellness plans   
  • Experience mindfulness techniques that can support your relationships, stress management skills, and overall health.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Evening Session

$250

The eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program is designed to help you cope more effectively with both long and short term stressors. Developed by Jon Kabit-Zinn from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, MBSR has been scientifically proven to enhance the ability to manage and reduce pain levels, and improve focus, resilience and the capacity to recover more quickly from challenging life events.

Instruction involves mindful meditation practices, discussion, gentle stretching and yoga (appropriate for all ability levels).

Please note all 8-week MBSR class participants must attend an Orientation ahead of each session as well as an All-day Saturday retreat toward the end of each session

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is the practice of allowing the body to relax and rest deeply, restoring the nervous system. Guided imagery, breath awareness, and the use of props supports us in our total relaxation. Restorative poses help relieve the effects of chronic stress, and unwind layers of holding and tension in the body and mind boosting the immune system and balancing the nervous system.

Take Your Mindfulness to Work: Sustaining Focus, Engagement and Purpose

In this two hour workshop, you will learn the simple practice of mindfulness which builds the skills of self-awareness, empathy and compassion, the foundation of resilience.

This practice is not about getting rid of our thoughts, anymore than life is about getting rid of all our challenges. It is about working with our thoughts skillfully, seeing them for what they are and being able to use them to respond to our life with choices that support our happiness and well-being, even under difficult conditions. The workshop will include sitting practice, guided meditation, and discussion.

No experience necessary. Everyone is welcome. Some topics we will address:

  • Being with what’s difficult without getting swallowed up
  • Putting things in perspective
  • See the difference between avoidable and unavoidable stress
  • Accepting, adapting, and appreciating change 

The Fundamentals of Mindfulness

This four-week class is an introduction to the practice of mindfulness; training the mind to be awake and aware in the present moment. Mindfulness can help reduce stress, support healing and improve well being. The class will include practice, discussion and suggestions for integrating mindfulness into our busy lives. You do not need any previous experience.
